Library of Carnal Knowledge
The Library of Carnal Knowledge stands as the largest collection of works known in Paradisium, standing impressively tall for such an old building at five stories, but that is only what is seen on the outside as it extends into underground restricted areas and study rooms.
Description
Gilded doors of the library open to reveal a comfortable sitting-room and an ornately(and quite provocatively) carved desk of some elegant wood known only to great elvish craftsmen. An ephemeral librarian sits at the desk, one of the many spirits that runs the library.
Beyond the desk and it's phantom attendant, lay shelves upon shelves of well worn books, tomes, and scrolls, as well as a dozen or so couches, and other comfortable furniture which appear to have been used for much more than studying in their time. Grand stairs head to additional floors above, each one carrying extended collections. The entire library bears the warm scent of old books, mixed with a softly fragrant aroma of desire, and somewhere in the distance you can hear the soft moans of a passionate embrace. Flitting between beams of ephemeral colored light are beautiful specters of every shape and size, quietly replacing books on the shelves, and occasionally enjoying the deeply erotic literature themselves.
The works collected here range from ancient sexual texts, to Scrolls of elicit spell-work and detailed guides on the summoning of fiends and outsiders for erotic purposes. A number of racks near the door display periodicals and works of graphical eroticism. Many shelves carry professionally printed and bound stories of the dungeon denizens, of various authenticity written by the ghostly staff themselves, rarely a tome that is not sexual can be found, and some tomes carry information in their pages, written and explained using the trappings of sex, pleasure and lust to provide examples and teaching guides to 'actual' lessons.
On the other side of the library, another lobby exists, older then the primary lobby, ancient Tel-quessir architecture of the likes that would be seen in some of the oldest constructions of the Faerie.
History
The Library of Carnal Knowledge was one of many buildings that seemed to simply appear in the Paradisium one day. Perhaps pulled down from one of the worlds it anchored upon, perhaps drawn in from another place entirely, it is hard to say, but the grand building was not safe from the influences of desire and lust that run rampant in the dungeon. Ghosts, whose origins are often equally unknown, manage the library, and over time replaced the collections with lewd and pornographic materials.
In recent years, Lazuli had discovered that the Library was once part of a larger educational structure, and after finding the original lobby, created a path from the front door or the old lobby to the Institute. The ghosts have accepted the idea that the Library serves an institute of learning, but that has not changed the proclivities of the ghostly caretakers much.
