Village of Shades
Along the path of Serpent's Road or exploring the land within, one might come across a dead forest, the only sounds in the day being the dead branches underfoot, even the wind seems to die in the place. At night, when it is dark, there are hints of life, shades of animals, people, and a village, this, is the illusive, haunted Village of Shades.
Description
In the darkness of night, in the dead forest, the cursed shadow forms of those not dead nor alive can be seen, trying to live out their lives. Light causes the shaded buildings and people to suffer and break apart until darkness resumes allowing reformation, while communication is possible, it is almost impossible for those not cursed to interact physically with the shades.
History
What used to be a normal village in a simple forest came under the wrathful eye of Kagajo, a witch of shadow and one who does not find the joy of others a good thing. She laid a curse upon all those who lives in the forest, to condemn them to live not among the living, but not feel the release of death, to burn in the very light they once enjoyed.
Her reasons for the curse were petty, and the village seeks a way to break the curse, when travelers will stop to talk.
Inhabitants
Shadowy trees will be seen over those that are long dead, shades in the forms of animals and humans can be seen when it is dark, acting out a shadowy play of their lives before they were cursed, it is hard to tell if they actually benefit from their work, hunting or other activities. Light causes harm to these shades, though they do not seek to harm travelers who seek to do no harm, even those who ignorantly harm them. They cannot die from the light, day, torches, fires, it will dissipate the shades, but they feel the pain and suffering of being burned away, but, never capable of ending the suffering.
