Siren's Last Refuge

A large salt water lake, that opens out and connects to Bending Seas beyond the sight of the shores, it is fed by various fresh water rivers that flow from elsewhere in the Verdant Caverns. It is said that the water turned to salt from the tears of the sirens that lost their lives and freedom here, to the demonic Conquest, the name coming from that event.

History

The original name of the lake has been forgotten, though despite the legends it has always been a slightly salty lake due to back and forth sailing and exchange of water with the Bending Seas. It used to have many names, both to the sirens who lived there, and those who would visit, but has for the last few hundred years been known as Siren's Last Refuge.

The event that gave it is most famous name was a last stand of sirens, as a united force, against the armies of a new arrival to Paradisium, a demon lord of conquest. Their loss saw them subjugated, a fate they still are burdened with, to the whims of Conquest, lord of all those who dwell in the seas.
