The Twilight Groves, save for one large primary growth cavern are interspersed in caves or offshoot caverns among the Wild Gardens and off the coastal caverns of the Sirens Grotto in the Verdant Caverns. Some caverns are pitch black, others are lit by the glowing lichen or fungi within, but most are lit by various strengths of Moon Crystals, the main chamber having the power of a full moon, other chambers having different effects of waxing or waning moons, however the chambers never alter their intensity.

Description

Several of the smaller caves and pockets within these Verdant Caverns shift drastically in feel, as the crystals above turn silvery blue, shining down a moonlight glow, rather than the vibrant sunlight of the larger antechambers. The result is an entirely different ecosystem thriving inside the permanent moonlight of these groves; glowing fungi, nightshades, and a myriad of other plants yet to be categorized. Even the small pools of water that exist here, sourced by the rivers of the garden, glow blue in the dark, perhaps the result of some strange algae living in them, or maybe due to an entirely different and more magical reaction.

History

The Twilight Groves are old, but younger then the Wild Gardens. As the Verdant Hive grew itself, had more converts, and grew the Wild Gardens, it found among its ranks some Crystal Keepers that bore the curses of Hemovore and Therainthrope and when they went to grow Sun Crystals, the crystals instead corrupted, glowing a silvery blue instead, under these silvery-blue crystals it was found that plants of darkness grew better, that certain life thrived better in the moonlight, and so they began to dedicate part of their land, and smaller caves and caverns, to these crystals and grows, creating the Twilight Groves as they exist now.
