Vespid

Vespids are one of the oldest races of Paradisium, they exist as an artificially created race, when the first Druids following the Circle of the Swarm, and their Swarmkeeper companions started to grow the Verdant Caverns as they changed the land, they changed themselves as well. Becoming closer to the swarm, then, eventually, they changed from humans and elves to the first vespids, and from there they grew larger between conversion and birth, until they become the race they are today.

Vespids of Paradisium can be born from vespid parents, if a child is born as a vespid or half-vespid, they are born into the control of the Verdant Hive, and, once they are of age will be drawn to returning to the Hive and finding a role within in. Meanwhile, many vespids are created by conversion of others, those who violate the laws of the Verdant Hive, those who come seeking a place to belong, or as a last attempt to rescue those who would be lost to the Verdant Caverns, though there are certainly other reasons some might join the hive.

Vespids come in a wide variety of body shapes and limb arrangements due to the conversions and interbreeding between other races, the common features are yellow and black exoskeleton with fuzzy hair like setae over the body.
