The Hoard of Dragonleaf Grove is a community and surrounding area that was founded by Taersedaith "Vee", to be a peaceful community and place for those seeking an existence away from big cities. She continues to protect and tend to the community, feeling protective of those who stay under her wing, be they property owners or guests.

Description

A grove of trees in the Verdant Caverns that have leaves that seem to be like scales, some leaves are metallic and shiny, some glimmer like gems, some show unusual colors such as red, black, or even stark white, and yet even some that seem to shine like stars or other solar bodies. One who knows them, might know them as Dragonleaf Trees, a rare tree that requires draconic tending or otherwise, the leaves resembling dragon scales, and in the colors and styles of the dragons they are named out of. Houses and bridges exist both in the trees, and down in the grove, outside of the grove additional cottages, cabins and houses have been built. In the center of the Dragonleaf Grove, resides the Community Leader's Cottage.

History

Prior to becoming Dragonleaf Grove, the area was just another patch of land in the Wild Gardens, one that was pleasant enough with access to water, good light, and some clearings. However, when Vee saw the land, while feeling the need to 'hoard' a community she was inspired.

Presenting herself to Queen Melora, Vee requested the creation of a safe haven, a settlement that she would protect, guard and guide, in the land she had found. Queen Melora was not pleased with the idea of having more small satellite states in her Queendom, her ancestors having already granting semi-autonomy to the Honeydew Valley and herself the Steppe-Fjords.

While the negotiation was difficult, Vee had a bargaining chip, the fact that she was one of only a very few that Queen Melora had met that could possibly grown the Dragonleaf Trees. On the condition that she grow, and maintain a wide variety of the rare, exotic plants to expand the biodiversity of the Verdant Caverns, the Dragonleaf Grove could be created.

The Hoard of Dragonleaf Grove is locally ruled by the Song Dragon Vee as a sort of City-State, however she is bound to the rules and laws of the Verdant Hive, and her agreement of tending to the Dragonleaf Trees. So the community continues to grow, as Vee monitors her hoard of people.

Druidic Alter

In the heart of the Dragonleaf Grove, the actual trees and not the settlement, is a clearing of stones on a earthen mound or hill, where those who are sensitive to magic can feel it gathering and dispersing. Stone monuments are set up, lit by candles that seem to never burn away, an alter present in the center, clearly for religious ceremonies, private rites, and available for those who practice natural magic. It sits upon a ley line node, making it a place welcomed to druids, witches, and others who know to seek it out.

Community Leader's Cottage

In the center of the Dragonleaf Grove Settlement is the cottage of the Community Leader, a song dragon who goes by the name of Taersedaith. The cottage and its grounds are modest but always open to members of the community or visitors who wish to stop for a meal, discussion, or a place to stay until they have a permanent home.
